Our Mission, put simply, is to love God, and love people.
We do this in a number of ways. Each of us seeks to follow Jesus in our own context, be it work or school or whatever.
We believe in feeding people, and actively support Loaves and Fishes, a place for people to eat, free of charge, that meets in our basement. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer with Loaves and Fishes.
The kids of our neighborhood are also important to us. We host a youth group, providing education and recreation for students of all ages.
We also host the Lafayette Block Club, The Right Place for kids, Jesus the Liberator Seminary of Social Justice, and we are a member of the Elmwood Village Neighborhood Association.
We would love to help you discover how you can join the mission of loving God, and loving people. We can plug you into an existing opportunity, or help you create something new!
You can check our partners page to see some of the places where we can plug you into God’s mission. If you want to give to this community, check our wish list. You can also help us raise funds by searching and/or shopping through Goodsearch.
Most Sundays, our worship service ends with this charge that Jesus gave in Matthew Chapter 10 (translated by Eugene Peterson):
Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood.
Tell them that the kingdom is here.
Bring health to the sick.
Raise the dead.
Touch the untouchables.
Kick out the demons.
You have been treated generously, so live generously.
Don’t think you have to put on a fund-raising campaign before you start. You don’t need a lot of equipment.
You are the equipment, and all you need to keep that going is three meals a day. Travel light . . .
Don’t worry about what you’ll say or how you’ll say it–the right words will be there;
The Spirit of your Father will supply the words.
That’s what we get sent to do each week.
